Utah Music Foundation offers new orchestra scholarship to honor Conrad Dunn
March 29, 2024
Salt Lake City, UT — Utah Music Foundation, a non-profit organization dedicated to providing scholarships to musical students from Utah communities, is proud to offer a new band scholarship to honor beloved Utah orchestra educator Conrad Dunn. This $500 scholarship will be offered to Utah high school seniors with a background in orchestra and will honor Conrad Dunn.
Conrad has spent over 50 years in the field of education. His passion is sharing his knowledge with the youth and instilling a love for music in their lives. He has been teaching orchestra at the Thomas Edison Charter Schools in Cache Valley for the last thirteen years, and has been the conductor of our Northern Utah Youth Symphony for nine years.
"Conrad's influence on numerous students and fellow musicians is immeasurable. Establishing an orchestra scholarship in his honor pays homage to his life's dedication and underscores the profound impact he left on his students," says Tim Eaton, President and Founder of Utah Music Foundation. "We deeply appreciate Conrad’s contributions to the Utah music scene and are thrilled to pay tribute to his life’s work by offering a scholarship in his name.”
One $500 scholarship will be awarded based on the student’s involvement in orchestra and a brief essay. This short essay will invite students to reflect on how music, and specifically their participation in orchestra has impacted their life and how orchestra will be a part of their life going forward. Students do not need to major in music to apply. The application process is open now at www.utahmusicfoundation.org and concludes April 15. The scholarship winner will be announced later this spring.
