Salt Lake City, UT — Utah Music Foundation, a non-profit organization dedicated to providing scholarships to musical students from Utah communities, is thrilled to announce Jexton Bodrero as the recipient of the 2024 Conrad Dunn orchestra scholarship. Jexton is a 2024 graduate of Bear River High School in Garland, UT and will be attending Weber State University.

“I am Jexton Bodrero, and for seven years, the cello has been my instrument of choice.” says Mr. Bodrero. “My most memorable experiences while in high school are my concerto performances with the Cache Symphony Orchestra and the Northern Utah Youth Symphony, as well as my Region and State Solo performances. The cello has provided me with countless opportunities to perform at various events, and now it offers me the chance to continue playing in college. I plan to play with the Weber State University Symphony Orchestra to further explore my passion for music and continue honing my skills. I am very thankful for this scholarship and all the support I have received. I'm thrilled to see where my passion for music takes me next!”

This $500 scholarship is awarded each year based on the applicant’s involvement in orchestra, a recorded performance, and a brief essay. This short essay invites students to reflect on orchestra has influenced their lives and how they will be involved in orchestra going forward. The application process opens each spring and applicants are invited to apply at www.utahmusicfoundation.org.

He has spent over 50 years in the field of education. His passion is sharing his knowledge with the youth and instilling a love for music in their lives. He has been teaching orchestra at the Thomas Edison Charter Schools in Cache Valley for the last thirteen years, and has been the conductor of our Northern Utah Youth Symphony for nine years.
