June 2, 2024
Salt Lake City, UT — Utah Music Foundation, a non-profit organization dedicated to providing scholarships to musical students from Utah communities, is thrilled to announce Elena Brough as the recipient of the 2024 Claudia Bigler Choir scholarship. Elena is a 2024 graduate of Mountain Ridge High School in Herriman, Utah and will be attending Southern Utah University this fall.
“Becoming the person I am today simply couldn’t be achieved without amazing people in my life,” says Ms. Brough. “They have helped me find ways to navigate life, especially through music. Receiving this scholarship is such an honor and I will use it to further my education in music. I’d like to give a special thank you to my choir director, Kelly DeHaan. Because of him, I am graduating high school with a love and passion for music that I will take on through the rest of my life!”
“Receiving this scholarship is beyond helpful to my pursuit of higher education. I have so much gratitude towards you for selecting me for this scholarship. I understand that many others may have applied, and to be chosen is such an honor. Thank you so much! I am forever grateful.”
This $500 scholarship is awarded each year based on the applicant’s involvement in choir and a brief essay. This short essay invites students to reflect on how choral music has influenced their lives and how they will be involved in choir going forward. The application process opens each spring and applicants are invited to apply at www.utahmusicfoundation.org.
